Consultation Form Speedmask®

SpeedMask® is a line of DYMAX light curable temporary masking resins that offer reliable surface protection not available from traditional masking products such as tapes, lacquers and waxes.

SpeedMask light curing maskants are available in several viscosities, which can be quickly applied by syringe or through dipping, spraying or screen printing. Residue-free removal is achieved with peelable, water soluble or burn-off grades. They cure upon exposure to light energy. Compare SpeedMask Resins to traditional maskants...

About SpeedMask Masking Resins

SpeedMask is a line of light curing masking products that are used in surface preparation and finishing operations where a barrier is needed to protect surfaces and cavities. These masking resins offer reliable protection during plating, thermal spray coatings, grit blasting, shot peening, acid stripping, machining and laser drilling.  SpeedMask resins are successfully being used in many industries, including aerospace, power generation, metal finishing, and the manufacturing of orthopaedic implants and medical devices.

Note: SpeedMask light curing resins are sold on a direct basis and through authorized distributors only.

What makes SpeedMask different?
DYMAX SpeedMask resins contain no non-reactive solvents and cure in seconds, providing cost savings through reductions in labor, rework and scrap. They are preferred over traditional masking products such as waxes, tapes and lacquers due to ease of application, superior protection with consistent reliability, and fast cure time. Refer to the chart below for a comparison:

SpeedMask Resins Traditional Maskants
» SpeedMask Advantages Over Tapes

bullet Apply and cure in seconds
bullet Leaves residue-free surfaces
bullet Provides reliable protection for complex
and intricate configurations
bullet Offers consistent protection

» Tapes

  • Labor intensive
  • Leaves residue after removal
  • Inadequate protection for complex configurations and rough surfaces
  • Inconsistent protection

» SpeedMask Advantages Over Waxes

bullet Single coat of SpeedMask Resin provides superior protection
bullet Burn-off, peelable or water-soluble formulations leave residue-free surface after removal
bullet Apply and Cure in seconds

» Waxes

  • Multiple costs required for adequate surface protection
  • Cooling time needed between coats
  • Soak in hot water to remove wax and residue
  • Wax residue left on surface
  • Hot wax can present worker safety issues
  • Valuable floor space needed for cooling cycles between coats
» SpeedMask Advantages Over Lacquers

bullet Single coat of SpeedMask Resin provides superior protection
bullet Cures in seconds
bullet Burn-off, peelable or water-soluble formulations leave residue-free surface after removal
bullet Contains no non-reactive solvents
bullet Masked components ready for production immediately

» Lacquers

  • Multiple coats required for adequate protection
  • Cure time can be minutes to hours between coats
  • Soak in methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or equivalent solvents for removal
  • Solvent-based lacquers present worker and workplace environmental issues
  • Valuable floor space needed during curing time
» SpeedMask Advantages
   Over Masking Boots & Caps

bullet Accommodates complex and intricate component configurations
bullet No additional investment for design changes or new components
bullet Universal maskant; not one-time use
bullet Offers reliable protection

» Masking Boots & Caps

  • Customization of boots and caps - one configuration use only
  • Inadequate sealing of surfaces over time during chemical processing
  • Finite wear life
